Job Summary:
The candidate will provide the Director of Dining Services with comprehensive, timely and accurate financial analysis and budget support with a strategic insight. In addition, the candidate would be responsible for supporting all business and finance activities for Dining Services, as well as act as a finance liaison for Dining Services with other divisional units. The candidate will also determine and supports process improvements and efficiency in financial operations of Dining Services.
Reviews reconciliation of revenues and expenses, including the determination if expenditures are recorded properly; works with leadership abilities to automate reporting wherever possible, reduces and/or eliminates reliance on supplemental or shadow financial systems. Reviews and monitors entry of financial data (revenue and expenses) into the general ledger and other financial accounting systems; reviews and periodically audits accounting entries to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements, and shadow software systems. Reviews and/or prepares monthly and quarterly reports, monthly and year-end journal and prepares graphs and charts for special reports or events (e.g. Dining Services meetings).
Serves as the business and finance process strategic partner for Dining Services. Works with business and finance personnel to ensure work processed correctly and in a timely fashion. Responds to basic inquiries and complaints. In consultation with the Sr. Financial Analyst, coordinates accounting transactions between Dining Services and other University units including month-end close and upload of monthly Billings, and Journal Entries.
Prepares ad hoc reporting and analysis by extracting financial data from multiple data sources and assemble data for analysis; works with and answers questions from Dining Services, regarding any accounting and financial issues, including the budget and financial reports. Analyzes financial data as requested; assists in development of Dining Services related accounting policies and procedures. Periodically audits internal controls for the organization and provide recommendations to management about changes needed. Stays informed of all GAAP and Indiana University policy and procedure changes that will affect financial statement preparation and the accuracy of the financial statements, especially in regards to specific requirements for Dining Services
Required Appropriate qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 5 years of practice in financial analysis or accounting.
Combinations of related education and practice may be considered.
Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
practice with Indiana University financials systems including KFS and IUIE reporting; expertise of University policies and procedures, including those regarding human resources, financial management, internal controls, procurement, and student services, and capability to effectively manage assigned personnel.
